The Heart

This one-whole reflective reality shines through its own awareness, which we call life. But often we do not see this one whole because we have bartered the heart.

Bartering the heart is when we say to life, “I will be happy when…” and then project our wholeness into a time and place that is not now- a positive and a negative bartering statement toward either the future or the past.

This looks like desire, worry/anxiety (future), and nostalgia and shame/”I wish I had known…” (past).

Is there a way you can reclaim your bartering statement?

  • Books and authors that help me when I am bartering my heart include Pema Chödrön, How to be Free (Senghor), The Flip (Kripal), and William James.
