There are so many names used in sacred texts that mean the Heart, that are Code for the Heart, that are synonymous with the Heart. What is a word that means Heart to you?

How do we test reverence? How do we make it our own? It’s not enough to read someone else’s account of reverence. We must test it and try it on. What does that look like for you?

  • Sacred texts help us to understand this level of reverence because we no longer hold the text apart from us. My two favorite sacred texts are the Śivastotrāvalī (“Meditations on Shiva” trs Bailly) and the Vijñanabhairava Tantra. Other powerful texts include the Torah, the Bible, the Qur’an, the writings of your favorite devotional poet or saint, the Shamanic experience, the Journey or Sound Healing.
