About the Book
Embodying the Goddess: How to Awaken Curiosity and Reverence on the Spiritual Path challenges the entrenched “transcendence bias” of patriarchal spirituality—the overemphasis on going up and out of the body toward stillness or detachment—by restoring embodiment and cyclical return as essential to awakening.
Author and educator Cynthia Abulafia draws on her lineage in Shakta Tantra, decades of non-dual study, and her own profound kundalini awakenings to map the complete spiritual process. In her telling, the divine feminine is not a symbolic archetype, but a living, self-reflexive capacity for curiosity and reverence that is present in every human being and critical for integrating transcendent states into embodied, everyday life.
Weaving academia, personal experience, and accessible practices, Abulafia offers readers a new spiritual compass that makes space for the complexity, limitation, and beauty of human life. From rethinking non-attachment through her “bartering the heart” framework to introducing natural breathing practices as a direct way to touch the map of experience, Embodying the Goddess is a guide for seekers navigating the terrain from spiritual curiosity to crisis and beyond.
Whether you are processing a profound spiritual opening, integrating a psychedelic experience, or simply seeking a more balanced, life-affirming path, this book offers clarity, tools, and a reminder that embodiment is not the opposite of awakening—it is its completion.

About the Author
Short Bio
Cynthia Abulafia is an author, educator, and yoga therapist committed to giving language to the divine feminine and restoring the experience of embodiment as the heart of spiritual practice. A longtime student and teacher of non-duality, she guides people through kundalini awakenings and spiritual crises with grounded tools rooted in embodiment, breath, and the context of sacred texts and traditions. Her debut book Embodying the Goddess—to be released in January 2026—challenges the “transcendence bias” of patriarchal spirituality and offers a path of radical integration.
Standard Bio
Cynthia Abulafia is an author, educator, and yoga therapist committed to giving language to the divine feminine and restoring embodiment to the heart of spiritual practice. A practitioner in a Shakta-tantra lineage with over two decades of study in multiple schools of non-duality, Cynthia’s work challenges what she calls the “transcendence bias” in spirituality—the overemphasis on stillness and detachment at the expense of life in the body.
Her forthcoming book, "Embodying the Goddess: How to Awaken Curiosity and Reverence on the Spiritual Path," introduces a map for navigating an integrated spiritual cycle, including the often-overlooked return from transcendent states into embodied, everyday life. Drawing from her own profound kundalini awakenings, advanced training in yoga and yoga therapy, and extensive academic study, Cynthia blends a knowledge of sacred texts and traditions with accessible practice to help seekers move from spiritual curiosity to deep, embodied wholeness.
Long Bio
Cynthia Abulafia is an author, educator, yoga therapist, and part of a Shakta-tantra lineage, devoted to giving precise language to the divine feminine and reclaiming embodiment as an essential part of the spiritual journey. With over 20 years of study and teaching in multiple schools of non-duality, Cynthia’s work bridges ancient traditions, modern movement science, and lived spiritual experience.
Her debut book, Embodying the Goddess: How to Awaken Curiosity and Reverence on the Spiritual Path—to be released in January 2026—challenges the entrenched “transcendence bias” of patriarchal spirituality—the tendency to point seekers up and out of the body without teaching how to return and integrate. Cynthia introduces a practical “map” for navigating the full spiritual cycle, reframing the divine feminine as the self-reflexive capacity for curiosity and reverence, and offering tools for integration after transcendent or challenging spiritual experiences.
A master’s degree holder in nutrition and current candidate in Naropa University’s master’s program in Yogic Studies, Cynthia holds the highest credentials in yoga and yoga therapy (E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, YACEP) and is a trauma-informed educator. In her workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings, she blends subtle body anatomy, sacred texts, and accessible breath-based practices to help seekers, teachers, and practitioners alike cultivate resilience, agency, and deep embodiment.
